Texas A&M Preview
Texas A&M battled through the strong Big 12 this year and compiled a nice non-conference resume to put itself firmly within the NCAA tournament field. In the early season, the Aggies defeated solid teams in Minnesota and Clemson, while falling to respectable opponents New Mexico, West Virginia and Washington. In conference, Texas A&M lost to top teams Kansas and Kansas State, among others, and had some quality wins over teams such as Baylor, Texas Tech, Missouri, and Texas. The Aggies are led by guard Donald Sloan, who averages about 18 points per game, and bolstered by four other players who average at least nine points per game.
Utah State Preview
With five players that average around 10 points, and an offence which was in the top ten in a number of categories, the Utah State Aggies will be a team to bet on in the tournament. If they can make sure their defense works well in the first round, this could be one of the first Cinderella teams in Round 2.
Stew Morrill’s Utah State Aggies will certainly need to be on their best game if they’re going to be able to compete in this one. Their star, Tai Wesley, will need to show the type of form for Utah State that he has been showing throughout the regular season in the WAC if they’re going to put up a fight against the higher ranked Aggies.Texas A&M Aggies’s 23-9 regular season record looks almost unbeatable in this matchup, but stranger things have happened
